Take a walk with me
Now that we are fully entrenched in fall here in the Pacific Northwest, the trees are drenched in warm, rich hues and when they fall to the ground {which is still such a bright green because of all the rain we get come fall}, it creates a stark contrast of complementary colors. As a creative, that is something that just makes me come alive!
Color is a gateway to the heart....each one giving off it's own energy, even reflecting or affecting the emotions of the viewer. They have a strong impact on our emotions and are an inseparable part of our every day lives.
So as you are out and about doing your daily routines, take a few minutes to pause and soak in the colors around you.....as you just may find that they provide a much needed moment of refreshment in an otherwise hurried day.
I won! I won!
I'm way beyond excited to share that my abstract painting "Emergence" won third place in the Contemporary Fine Art International Abstract Show! I feel so blessed and honored to have one of my paintings chosen out of the many wonderful paintings from highly talented painters that were entered in the show.
In search of _____
beauty...it's all around you, if only you open your eyes {and heart}. Will you open yours and let it in?
Studio Views
Started lots of small pieces on paper this week in prep for my upcoming shop update early next month. Along the way you'll get to see a few peeks here and there. :)
My kiddo is home from school today (it's the annual teacher's retreat, so no school yesterday or today) so working in the studio has been tough. Him being home is too distracting for me to really be able to work, as my studio is open to the downstairs and without a door I can't get any quiet. Gotta invest in some good ear plugs or noise canceling headphones 'cause listening to music while I paint like I used to has started to hinder my process instead of help....I think because these new abstract works require me to go deep within myself and the music distracts me from that.
I'd love to hear from you, so please leave me comment on this post or email me at studio@pauletteinsall.com

Working in the studio doesn't always mean painting
I was busy in the art studio today prepping paper for some small works I plan to start on Wednesday...which is my next work day since I'm one of the chaperone's for my son's school pumpkin patch trip tomorrow (so glad his new rain boots arrived today, as things are quite muddy and wet here in Portland at present). Then I was off to the framing store to pick up some more d-rings and picture wire to wire up a recently sold painting for a local collector. Being a professional artist isn't all about creating. There's so much more that goes into it behind the scenes that you don't ever see.
I've decided to start sharing more of this part of my life...the day to day life of an artist...in addition to the pictures of my art. Some will be shared here on my public blog, but if you're interested in seeing a more in depth look behind the scenes, you can sign up for my Insider Circle newsletter here: www.pauletteinsall.com/newsletter-sign-up
P.S. The two paintings on the bottom of this pic will be available during my next shop update at the end of this month. To get first dibs, be sure to join my newsletter (see link above).
