Getting back to work
Today I'm reflecting on all I learned last week in the abstract painting workshop I took in North Carolina and missing my new artist sisters muchly. So much to process, so I'm spending some time this week reorganizing in my studio to accommodate how I need to work moving forward.
Many have been asking for me to share some thoughts on abstract painting that I learned....I'd have to say one of my biggest takeaways from the workshop was that for me, warm up exercises are key for my being able to let go and create intuitively. They are like an off switch for my brain. To create from my gut/my truth, I have to shut off thinking....it's the overthinking that gets me stuck/blocked.
As I continue to process things and return to painting in my studio, I'm sure this will become very evident in my work.
I don't expect to be online a lot this week, as I need to focus on getting back to painting daily. I will share pics once I'm settled back in. Much love to y'all! <3
