Playing around with paint
So much going on around here right now that I just didn't have the energy to create the way I usually do. Instead of doing nothing, I decided to just play around with something I've been wanting to try for so long now....an abstract painting with graphic elements. No stamps, no stencils, no sketches....just a canvas, paint, some paint brushes, and a palette knife.
It's my first try at something along these lines and, as with all things, getting it just how I want it takes practice. Pretty happy with my first attempt. Plus I tried out some things I probably would have never tried otherwise that I know I will be incorporating into future paintings.
So what about you? What new thing are you going to try? My advice...don't overthink it....just do it! You never know unless you try. Even if it doesn't turn out the way you'd hoped, you'll learn something along the way that you wouldn't have had the chance to learn without trying. :D
Recommendations anyone? (Portland, OR metro area)
We are about to undertake the task of doing some remodeling on our house and I could use any advice or recommendations of contractors. Here's what we're looking to do in the next couple of months...
- Painting (exterior/interior)
- New wood fence
- Concrete patio
- Hardwood floor refinishing
- Kitchen cabinets & countertops
If you're in the area and have had any work done on your house and can recommend the people you used or if you or your spouse do this type of work, please email me. Also, any of you who have gone through remodeling and hiring contractors, any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated! :)
