Musings on my studio practice

Our world is such a very beautiful place…and every moment, miracles are happening all around us. This painting is meant to inspire all those who see it to never lose their sense of wonder…to look for paradise and miracles wherever they go.

Insight into my studio practice

I start my paintings without an end result in mind. Usually, they begin with a feeling, an inspiration, or an intention that forms in my conscious mind. As I start painting, I shift into the creative flow state, and my subconscious mind takes over. At this stage, I am not consciously thinking; I am only present and reacting to what is happening on the canvas in front of me. I become a vessel for the work…partnering with what is flowing through me.

By aligning myself and allowing my creativity to flow freely, I am able to create beautiful work that speaks directly to the soul. I feel deeply connected to my purpose and experience little to no resistance. This approach has allowed me to tap into my innermost thoughts and emotions to produce work that resonates deeply with others.

Much love and bunches of hugs!

Studio Vlog - Peek at new acrylic painting studies + creative process

As promised, here’s my first studio vlog in many years. I used to do these on occasion and really enjoyed sharing my thoughts and process in this manner. So I’ve decided to start them up again! Hope you enjoy watching! Let me know if you use painting studies in your art practice to experiment with different painting techniques and tools. And if so, how it has helped your art skills and creativity? Did you do them in a sketchbook or journal….or did you just use loose art paper, art board, or watercolor paper?

Please leave me a comment below. I’d be to tickled hear from you! Even if it’s just to say that you enjoyed the studio vlog and you’d like me to post more of them.

Oh and for those of you who are interested in what art supplies I used here, I’ve included a linked list of supplies for you below. The ones marked with an * are affiliate links and I may receive a small commission if you choose to make a purchase.

Much love and bunches of hugs!

Art Supplies Used for Painting Studies in Studio Vlog

I'm quitting...

Just to clarify, I am not quitting art, I am quitting social media, specifically Facebook and Instagram…which are the two I have focused my efforts on.

After some reflection, I realized that social media just burnt me out completely. So, I stopped posting, or I would post now and then thinking things would be different, but they weren't. So, I've decided to take a break from social media for a while. Instead, I'll be posting updates on my blog and sending emails to my special mailing list members. If you'd like to stay in the loop about my newest art, classes, and my thoughts on creativity, mindset, and life in general, you should join my email newsletter. I'd be thrilled to have you as a part of my email community!

Going forward, I plan to let the process of sharing my art evolve organically, just like my art has been evolving since moving to Arizona. I've realized that I need to find a way to share my work that doesn't interrupt my creative flow or take up too much of my time. Hopefully, if I can capture snippets in a more integrative way, sharing my work will become a natural extension of my creative process.

So, I came up with a few ideas. For starters, I'm going to start filming short studio vlogs where I talk about what I'm currently working on. I've already filmed one, and I'll be posting it in the next day or so. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as it's up!

Also, I want to write more, like I used to on my blog before social media was a "thing." I want to share what's on my heart in a way that's more personal and intimate than a social media post could ever be - and in a space that's entirely mine.

So, that's why I've been a little quiet online lately. The other reason is just life, health, and family stuff, which always come first. But creativity is a crucial part of my mental health, so I'm trying to find more ways to integrate it into my daily life. I'll keep you posted on that, too - stay tuned!

Until next time…

Lots of love and bunches of hugs!

Shop update this week!

Abstract art in progress

Abstract art in progress

I'm busy this week with taking pictures of all the new art, editing photos, and such so I won't be doing much in the way of painting this week as I need to focus all my energy on admin things.

Which means I have a bunch of new art for you! I believe I counted 17 new paintings!

Yea!

And there's all sizes...so if you need a small painting to beautify that desk or shelf, or if you have big empty wall that needs a big dose of color.

I've got ya covered. :D

I'll be updating my online shop with all the new paintings later this week, but if you don't want to miss out,   sign up to be notified here: http://www.pauletteinsall.com/newsletter-sign-up

Inspired by spring!

I'm so glad spring is finally here! It's been a long dreary rainy season here in Portland, much more than usual. Of course that made me look forward to spring's arrival even more! And it's showing in my newest paintings...some of which are very heavily on the side of Impressionism and others lean towards a more edgier contemporary modern flair with their heavily textured surfaces.
